AIM Lab Summer 2026 TEM Short Course Monday, June 29, 2026 9:30 a.m. AIM Lab, Kim Building room 1237B For More Information: Wen-An Chiou 3014050541 wachiou@umd.edu https://nanocenter.umd.edu/aimlab/short-courses/2026-summer/2026-summer-tem.php AN INTRODUCTION TO TEM FOR THE NEW TEM OPERATOR A Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) short course will be offered during the Summer 2026 break through the AIM Lab at the NanoCenter, University of Maryland. This hands-on course is designed to introduce new users to the fundamental principles of TEM, including instrumentation, instrument operation, and application in materials characterization. The lecture portion of the course will cover the basic theory and principle of TEM, while laboratory sessions will provide practical instruction in TEM operation and commonly used characterization techniques. This course is also recommended as a refresher for individuals who have prior knowledge of TEM and previous experience operating the instrument. TEM Class: Date: Four days, June 29, 30, July 1, and 2, 2026 Lecture: 09:30 am - 12:00 pm. (Theory) Laboratory: Four days, June 29, 30, July 1, and 2, 2026 Two hours/group/day (TEM operation, 2 ~ 3 students/group) Rooms: Lecture: TBA; Lab: TEM facility, Kim Building room 1237B. Limit: Lecture and Lab Course: $450 per person, $415 per person for participants from the same research groups with multiple enrollments, or for individuals concurrently enrolled in the TEM and SEM or FIB short courses. $235 per person for lecture-only or laboratory-only participation (subjected to instructor approval). To enroll in the course, please complete the application form and submit it to the AIM Lab office by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. Applications should be submitted to Room 1234, Jeong H.
